A total of 5 million Britons live in a flood risk area, are you one of them? If so, the 'Flood Alert' app, developed by Halcrow, who are a design, engineering and environmental consultancy, is a must for you and, it's free.
They work in conjunction with the Environment Agency to provide live updates of flood warnings. They also give useful information through this app, on how to flood-proof your home to reduce damage.
The Environment Agency currently sends localised warnings to 1 million people at risk of flooding in various areas by text, phone or fax. Yet that still leaves another 4 million in danger.
This app can be downloaded from the Apple 'App Store'. An app for both Android and blackberry is on the cards for the next few months.
