Japan Turns Its Mobiles Green...

Greener Mobiles

Well someone was going to take the initiative and it looks as if it will be the Japan, who will be the first country to power its mobile phone network and turn everyones mobile phone green - entirely by using renewable energy’s.  It seems the power down disasters caused by the natural disasters such as the quake and the tsunami earlier in 2011, have forced mobile phone operator NTT DoCoMo to look at finding alternative ways of powering its masts network.  As the biggest mobile phone operator with some 90,000 relay stations around the country, these new green transmission stations will run on eco-energy such as solar, wind or biomass.

It’s also seen as an anti-quake measure for sure as well as to stop the widespread blackout as faced during the crisis earlier, but also one that looks to reduce the Company’s resource use and make certain headway as to their environmental impact.

The plan is to start building 10 renewable energy facilities to supplement their present power supply from 2012.
