Sometimes we come across stories which have nothing to do with green issues, their just plain interesting stories about what your mobile phone could be capable of. Well this is one of those occasions.
Forget door slot cards, or a bundle of keys to get into a hotel room. So how would you get in? Using your mobile phone of course. Lock Company Assa Abloy and a top Swedish hotel are toying with the idea that you can use your mobile to get into your suite? Using short-range radio waves the Clarion hotel is trailing the idea. Visitors to the hotel will be given special mobile phones with the close range radio technology installed so as to speed up the checking in process. To do this the phones are fitted with a Near Field Communication technology or (NFC).
Watch this space as if it this works, the same technology will be used in mobile phones to pay for ticketing and card payments.
