One In Ten Brits To Buy Christmas Presents Via Their Mobile

Greener Mobiles

Tesco Direct has released research that claims one in ten Brits will do their online Christmas shopping from a phone rather than a computer this year.

On asking 4000 consumers how they plan to use their mobile phones in the run up to Christmas, almost half said they would use their handsets to search for gifts.  A quarter of respondents said they’d surf for presents during the daily commute.

The survey also found that 78% of consumers plan to buy gifts online, with 70% saying that the Internet provides the best way to buy presents.

Tesco says that more than half a million people visited the Tesco Direct store via a mobile handset in October.

“For the first time this year we anticipate a significant amount of orders to be placed by customers using their mobiles, because customers like the convenience of shopping on the go,” said Tesco Direct’s CMO, Ian Crook.

According to the survey 45% of respondents said they struggle to find time to purchase Christmas gifts due to work and family commitments.
