Sony Ericsson latest green mobile phone, the Xperia Mini X10 has picked itself up the EISA (European Imaging and Sound Association) green award for 2010 – 2011. Given its green credentials, the mini won the award for being made from recycled plastics and sporting reduced packaging.
EISA introduced the Green Mobile Awards back in 2005. Determining the winner is, in fact, not something EISA does by itself, it is an association that consists of 50 of the most prestigious and specialized multimedia magazines from 19 countries around the world. Each year the chief editors of those mags meet and decide which products within the 6 categories are going to win these very prestigious awards.
With energy consumption such a hot topic amongst smart phone users and everyone looking to doing something their environmental impact. Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Mini outperformed the competition this year, as a mobile phone, music machine, mobile internet device or even photo camera amongst hundreds of entrants up for the award.
Despite its compact size and weight, the Sony Ericsson Xperia, it packs a punch, running on Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread), CPU power is a 1GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm QSD8255 Snapdragon, sporting 320 MB worth of storage and a microSD slot to add an extra 32GB. A 5MP camera, autofocus, LED flash, Geo tagging, image stabilization, smile and face detection. A stereo radio with RDS. Standby battery life is tasty at 340 hours on (2G) and 320 hours on (3G).
Given Sony Ericsson's commitment in preserving the environment with their greenheart range of mobiles, this award will hopefully show their competitors, that greenermobiles is perhaps the way to go.
