Though luxury items are by their nature expensive, they don’t have to be excessively wasteful as this eco friendly luxury smartphone concept proves. By the same token, just because a product is eco-conscious doesn’t mean it can’t be high-end.
One only has to consider the Swiss maker Ulysse Nardin’s Chairman luxury hybrid smart green mobile phone if you want a truly luxury and eco-friendly option. Yes, the Chairman is set to be the world’s first luxury hybrid smart phone.
It will have a 3.2 capacitive touchscreen (with multi-touch support), a full on-screen QWERTY keyboard as well as physical numeric keys, 8MP camera, and 32GB internal memory. Running on Google’s Android platform, a fingerprint reader for owner identification and phone lock HD video replay capability and is ser to be powered by a Freescale i.MX processor. It is also slated to have up to eight hours talk time with 30 days standby time.
But what makes this a hybrid phone is its watch-like kinetic rotor system that passively recharges the battery. The phone also has a crown winding mechanism similar to watches to help generate additional electrical power for the battery. This luxury smartphone will be accompanied by Bluetooth stereo speakers and a wood dock where you can place your phone for recharging. If that wasn’t enough, this highly eco-friendly luxury smartphone concept also will come with an external USB drive which you can use to back up all of your data.
Only 1,846 units will be made, a nod to the year 1846 during which this industry leader in mechanical timepieces was founded.
